It was a time before labels — when the gospel moved without variances. Jews in Jerusalem. Samaritans on the outskirts. A Roman centurion. A merchant woman by the river. A jailer in the Philippian prison at night. The components held every time.

The rhythm holds

Sometimes the Spirit falls first, shattering prejudice before anyone can organize it (Cornelius). Sometimes hands are laid to complete what had already begun (Samaria, Ephesus). But the core holds: repentance turns the key, baptism in Jesus' name applies remission, and the Holy Ghost comes as promised.

Acts does not care what you call yourself. It simply records what happened when Jesus was preached and people took Him at His word. The promise was never limited to a century or a culture: "unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off."
